Take a family or group of kids to the mall. Give them each spending money. Assign a specific category to shop for or leave the shopping open and watch what happens. We learn a lot. Stop for lunch to discuss and explore what we observed and we learn even more.

There's no better way to understand the family restaurant experience than to be a fly on the wall from the restaurant decision making to the ride to the restaurant and at the table. Post dining interviews with individual family members explore further what we observed.

We look in every cabinet, explore the fridge, check out all the technology, peek in every drawer and closet, observe and listen carefully to how every decision is made from how long Matt gets to play on his tablet to what Harper is going to have for lunch. We learn a lot.
